| MIS recognise that the critical aspect of any system implementation or enhancement is not the system itself, but the business process that the system will support. If the business process does not fit the customer’s business needs, then the system will never improve operations. |

|
Therefore, the first and most critical task of any major implementation is to develop a robust and efficient business process. This must be reviewed and approved by senior customer representatives, and is usually developed using a joint MIS/customer project team.
MIS use a tool developed by Triaster called Process Navigator. This is a Microsoft-approved add-on to the Visio design tool. Process flows are developed using the Triaster tool and then published in Visio or HTML format to enable inclusion in the customer’s user guides, work instructions, intranet etc.Process Navigator can be used to develop process flows in simple input-task-output format.
MIS has used process Navigator to develop our own internal Quality management processes.
An example of a process flow developed using Process Navigator is shown below (click the image for a larger view).

| A complimentary add-on to the Process Navigator tool, called Analyst, can review and analyse all inputs and outputs. Orphan inputs and outputs can be identified as waste processes. |
